Ed Miller – President and Chaplin

Rev. Ed Miller is an ordained chaplain, Director of Counseling Services, and course instructor with Serve Ministries in Florida.  He also serves with Emergency Chaplains in North Carolina as the Person Crisis Response Team coordinator.  Ed is a retired Washington State Deputy Sheriff – Sergeant, and Air Force Officer, having served multiple tours overseas.

Doreen Miller – Counseling Services Therapist

Doreen Miller is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the state of North Carolina and a National Certified Counselor (NCC).  Doreen earned her graduate degree in Community Counseling in 2012 in Tucson, Arizona. She gained experience in trauma treatment during her internship at the Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault. She was also employed by the same agency specializing in Childhood Sexual Trauma, working with adults, children and families.  Doreen has additional experience working with families and children using the Family Centered Treatment modality and is thrilled to use her faith in a God-Centered and Biblical approach to therapy.

Doreen has training and experience in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and a wide variety of modalities that will fit the specific needs of the person.  She believes each person has a unique experience, and treatment should include a wholistic view to include one’s values, culture and beliefs.  Doreen does provide Christian counseling and has completed training in chaplaincy.  Doreen is a veteran of the US Air Force having served at Barksdale AFB, McChord AFB (now joint-base Lewis-McChord) and overseas in West Germany. She is also the wife of a former police officer with first hand experience in what first responders and their families go through.

Tony Bennett – Executive Board Director

Tony has also served in the military for 27 years as a Human Resource Leader and been deployed several times.  Tony has earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Barber-Scotia College and his master’s in business from Grand Canyon University.

Tony is married to Denise Bennett and has four daughters Shamika, Whitney, Ashleigh, and Rebekah; and two sons Marcus and Nathanael.

Erin Gholson – Executive Board Secretary

Erin holds the Secretary position for the Executive Board. She is a native of Washington State where she worked as a Community Resource member of AmeriCorps. While in this position she found a love for serving the community and meeting the needs of her clients as they were identified. She currently lives in Southeast Missouri with her husband (an active Nuclear Submarine Officer in the US Navy Reserves) and three children. She is a faith-based educator and new teacher mentor for area parochial high schools and regional Universities where she uses her degrees in history, business administration, and organizational leadership practices. Having grown up in a military and law enforcement home, she has a particular interests and compassion for families of first responders and military personnel. It is through this experience and desire to meet the unique needs of Responding to Grace’s clients that motivated Erin to join our team and contribute to the ministry’s mission and vision.

Denise Bennett – Executive Board Treasurer

Denise grew up in MI and earned her BS in Legal Studies in 1994. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, she spent the next several years living in Germany and raising her son. After her daughter was born, Denise earned her M. Ed and became an elementary school teacher with a focus on students with minor learning differences. Denise has recently earned her JD and MLS and plans to work for Legal Aid beginning in the fall.
